What’s ABC DAY about?
ABC Day is about a simple day’s adventure that we might have experienced as kids. It’s a story about a group of compassionate and diverse kids who are unconcerned with race, gender, or other barriers. They simply care about each other, bonded by their shared interests, curiosity, and natural zest for life. This book was written to feel a sense of peace, as a celebration of new life, of the wonder of coming into the world, and as an ode to my nephew, who turned one last year. It was birthed after 9 months of joyful effort by my illustrator, Sarah, and I. We each had creative freedom in our expression and it was delightful to collaborate, just as the characters do. Joy, love, exploring and discovering life’s treasures through the healthful use of their bodies while riding bicycles, engaging their minds in creative problem-solving, and roaming freely together, is at the heart of childhood experiences.

Who made ABC DAY?
Dipti Joshi has an integrative medical, fitness, and real estate background. She was a professional at playing “school” and engaging in crafts, while babysitting her siblings, and growing up in New York City. She was inspired to pen ABC Day as a first birthday present for her nephew and to fulfill her child’s love of editing. She was motivated by Sarah to publish the book. Knowing that children are open-hearted, learn in limitless ways, and can teach adults about resiliency and compassion, she hopes this story helps newer generations understand the simplicity experienced by parents and grandparents during their childhoods. Encouraging parents to help children seek out simple, technology-free ways to engage kids' sense of community, and imagination has been a fun journey.
Sarah Naberhaus grew up on an Iowa farm with a home-schooled family of 9 children. Her love for Christ and passion for art are what have guided her through life and to exciting opportunities, such as illustrating ABC Day. She graduated with highest honors from Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a bachelor's degree in graphic journalism and a minor in photography. She currently works at a book publishing and graphic design firm in Pella, Ia. She has illustrated an additional book and hopes to continue in the future.
